Parent questions

Good to know before you reach out

What if my teen is nervous about joining? That is completely normal. Groups are small, welcoming, and low-pressure. We will talk through fit and help your teen know what to expect before they begin.
What ages are the Teen Groups for?Our teen groups are designed for ages 14–18. We consider age, stage, and group fit so participants can feel comfortable and connect with similar-aged peers. Looking for ages 19–25? Visit our Young Adult Neurodivergent Social Groups page.
How much does a Teen Group cost? The November 2026 teen group is $400 total for four two-hour sessions. We will confirm dates, pricing and availability before registration.
How are participants matched to a group?Alicia considers age and stage, goals, communication style, social comfort, and the current peer mix. A diagnosis is not required, and the conversation gives families and participants space to ask questions before deciding.
How many participants are in each group?Teen groups are intentionally kept small. Exact capacity varies by cohort and facilitator, and Alicia will confirm current availability during the fit conversation.
Are receipts available?Yes. Receipts are provided for services delivered by a registered social worker or psychotherapist. Reimbursement through extended health benefits or eligible OAP funding may be available; coverage varies, so please confirm eligibility with your plan or funding provider before registering.
What happens if the best-fit group is full? You can join the waitlist for the next suitable opening or series. We will keep the participant’s age, goals, and preferred schedule in mind and contact you when an appropriate option becomes available.
What if my teen would prefer individual counselling?Groups and individual counselling are separate options. If your teen would prefer one-to-one support, explore our individual teen counselling in Burlington. The free consultation can help you discuss fit; teen groups take place in the office, while individual sessions can be in person or virtual across Ontario.
