ADHD & anxiety
Time pressure, unfinished tasks, forgetfulness, and years of criticism can create a cycle of worry, shame, and avoidance.
Adult anxiety counselling can help you understand why worry, panic, or avoidance keeps taking over—and find practical ways to make more room for everyday life again.
Sessions are warm, collaborative, and shaped around your real life. We take time to understand the whole picture, including ADHD, autism, caregiving demands, or burnout when they are part of what you are carrying.

You might be the person everyone relies on. You work, care for family, remember what needs doing, and keep showing up—even while your mind never fully switches off.
Anxiety does not always look like obvious fear. It can hide behind overpreparing, procrastination, irritability, reassurance-seeking, or appearing calm while working very hard to hold everything together.
None of this means you are weak or failing. It may mean your mind and body have been working overtime for too long.

Racing thoughts, procrastination, shutdown, sensory overload, and difficulty starting tasks are sometimes labelled as “just anxiety.” For many adults, neurodivergence or prolonged burnout is also part of the picture. At Calm Guidance, ADHD and autism are not treated as problems that need to be fixed.
Time pressure, unfinished tasks, forgetfulness, and years of criticism can create a cycle of worry, shame, and avoidance.
Uncertainty, sensory demands, masking, and social pressure can keep the nervous system working hard. Support can be clearer, structured, and adapted to how you process information.
For women and mothers carrying everyone else’s needs, anxiety may become tangled with exhaustion, guilt, resentment, and the belief that rest is not allowed.
There is no single strategy that works for everyone. You and your counsellor decide together what to focus on and how quickly to move.
Notice triggers, thoughts, body signals, overload, and habits without blaming yourself for having them.
Practise grounding, emotional regulation, flexible thinking, boundaries, and realistic problem-solving.
Take manageable steps toward situations, relationships, and decisions anxiety has made harder.

Your counsellor will ask what anxiety has been looking like, what matters most to you, and what has or has not helped before. You choose what you are ready to share.
You will identify a few useful starting points and decide on a pace that feels manageable. The plan can change as you learn what works.
No. You can ask for support based on what you are experiencing and what you would like to change. Counselling is not the same as a formal diagnostic assessment.
Your counsellor will learn about what has been difficult, how it affects everyday life, and what you hope will feel different. You can share at your own pace; there is no expectation that you explain everything immediately.
Yes. Anxiety support can be adapted to account for executive functioning, sensory needs, communication preferences, masking, and overload. Calm Guidance takes a neurodiversity-affirming approach rather than treating ADHD or autism as something to eliminate.
There is no universal timeline. It depends on your goals, circumstances, preferences, and how you respond to support. You and your counsellor can review progress and decide together what remains useful.
