Child counselling support in Burlington

When a child is struggling

Big feelings often show up in everyday life.

Children may not say, “I feel anxious” or “I need help.” You may notice tears, frustration, avoidance, school worries, friendship difficulties, sleep changes, or meltdowns instead.

Counselling gives children a supportive place to understand what is happening and practise tools they can actually use.

If ADHD and emotional regulation are the main concerns, learn more about our ADHD counselling for children in Burlington, Ontario.

What support can look like

A calm space to build confidence, one step at a time.

Every child is different, so counselling is shaped around their age, comfort, strengths, and needs.

01

Connection first

We take time to help your child feel safe, understood, and comfortable before expecting them to open up.

02

Practical skills

Children practise naming feelings, managing stress, solving everyday problems, and navigating relationships.

03

Parent guidance

When helpful, we share supportive, realistic ideas that make it easier to respond at home.

Everyday starting points

Start with what has changed for your child.

You do not need the right label. A recent situation can help us understand what your child and family need.

Anger and frustration

Getting ready, losing a game or a small change of plan keeps ending in an argument. Explore support for anger and big emotions, including parent guidance.

Worries and difficult mornings

Your child asks for repeated reassurance, struggles with goodbyes or finds school mornings overwhelming. Read about child anxiety support and school avoidance.

Friendships and confidence

Feeling left out or losing confidence can be hard to put into words. Friendship support explains individual counselling and separate group options. There is also support for fear of mistakes.

Family changes, grief or a difficult transition are also reasons to ask about support. We will discuss your child’s age and needs before suggesting a clinician. Meet the counselling team.

Common questions

Good to know before you reach out

My child gets angry but cannot explain why. Can we start there?

Yes. Describe what happens at home, at school or during transitions, including what your child enjoys and what seems to help. They do not need to arrive with an explanation. The consultation helps us consider child counselling, parent guidance or another appropriate starting point.

Can I talk with someone before my child starts counselling?

Yes. A parent can make the first enquiry. If you want support with your own responses and routines, parent-focused guidance is a separate option. Your child’s clinician will explain consent, privacy and appropriate parent involvement.

What age does child counselling start?

We support children at different stages. During your free consultation, Alicia will recommend the best fit.

Can parents be involved?

Yes. Parent involvement is often a helpful part of child counselling, and we will discuss what feels right for your family.

Do you offer virtual child counselling?

Yes. We offer in-person counselling in Burlington and virtual counselling across Ontario.

Are receipts provided?

Yes. Receipts are provided. Reimbursement depends on the clinician’s professional designation and your benefits plan; please confirm eligible providers with your insurer before booking.
